Two scriptures have been resounding within me lately. Proverbs 17:28…Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue and James 1:26…If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
My mouth has always been my downfall. Things are going well, then I say something and BAM–there goes what I’ve worked so hard to build.
I’m trying to work on bridling my tongue. It’s not easy…especially for me. I’m a talker. I want the words that I speak, however, to bring life to situations rather than death.
I don’t want to be soft. I don’t want to be politically correct. And for the love of God, I don’t want to be morally relative. What seems right today may be proven horrible wrong tomorrow or next year or in the next decade.
I choose to stand on something that has proven itself for several thousand years, not several thousand days. I choose to stand with the One who sacrificed all so that we may have a relationship. I choose to stand on a Solid Rock. I choose to stand.
