For Young Men Only-book review

I had the pleasure of reviewing For Young Men Only :A Guy’s Guide to the Alien Gender.  I wish this book had been written and widely-read when I was a teenager!  If I had a time machine, I would travel back to middle school and high school with copies of this book for all of the boys in my classes.

First of all, I applaud the authors for tackling the issue of teenage girls and what they want.  I applaud the girls who answered the surveys–obviously very honestly.

The authors do a fantastic job of presenting data, inserting personal stories and giving suggestions of how to navigate girls rather than getting on a soap box and telling boys what to do, and what not to do.  The overriding theme of the book is that girls are attracted to boys who know who they are–who are confident, fun, adventurous.

I would suggest that any parent of a boy–on the cusp of the teenage years or in them–read this book themselves and then encourage their sons to read this book.

Pick up For Young Men Only at amazon.com.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

If you would like to win a copy of this book, leave me a comment.  I have a copy that I would love to send to someone in the continental US 🙂

  1. ..would that not only feed part of the issue with young males though? should they not be encouraged to find their own identity, rather than always playing into the hand of our quasi-feminised society?

  2. Thank you for pointing out that I did not accurately speak to the themes of the book. The authors of the book encourage boys to be who they are rather than trying to be what they perceive that girls want them to be.
