Labor Day weekend

Maybe I’m crazy, or maybe I’m a New Englander at heart, but I love Labor Day weekend.  This weekend marks the end of the horrific Friday evening commute home.  All those crazy shore-goers will start staying closer to home as the Eagles break their hearts, once again.

Labor Day weekend also means the US Open Tennis Tournament…my favorite of the year.  There is something about seeing the only major on home soil.  I love watching tennis in the same time zone as I find myself.

Labor Day weekend also notes that it is almost my birthday…the single most important day of the year 🙂  I think I am the only woman who loves aging.  I feel, like a fine wine, I am getting better with age.  And frankly, I have found that my life is getting better with every year.  My birthday is Sep 5 in case you want to send me cards, presents, love 😀

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of autumn.  I love fall.  I love the beautiful colors of creation.  I love the bite that is in the air.  I love apple cider, pumpkin carving, hay rides, The Big E, wool sweaters and hoodies, jeans and long-sleeved t-shirts.

Labor Day weekend also marks the beginning of football season. While I admit I have to learn more about college football, I love the NFL.  I love trash talk, die hard fans, beer & wings.  I love the comraderie that comes with football–be it high school, college or professional ball.  Or maybe I just like screaming in a group of crazy people…I don’t know.

What do you love about autumn?

  2. Now that Isaac is up at the high school (which, for the record, I can NOT believe) I’m sure we’ll be heading up to the ‘hood for a game.

Denette and I were laughing about how when we were in HS we thought the alumni were so OLD and idiots for coming back for the games. Now, we’re the old idiots 🙂
