I know one thing that I can do…

So, last night I wrote a very raw post asking what I can do.  I listed a bunch of things that I would like to do, given time and unlimited resources. Today I decided that I am going to put my nose to the grindstone, so to speak, and start working on one of my dreams.

Since I can remember, I have loved reading.  I read to escape…to go away from where I am, to a place that I may never actually visit.  Like Narnia for example 🙂  I read to learn.  I read to be challenged.  If you ever tune into this crazy webpage (or via RSS reader) then you also know that I like to write.  A lot. 

So…I have decided that I am going to take an hour or so a day, and start working on a book.  I know that I have a lot to say.  I don’t know if I have enough to say that someone would be willing to buy what I am writing.  But I am going to give it the good old college try. 

Here’s hoping that I end better than Melville…

    awesome idea, just go with the flow, don’t get hung up with what you write, just keep that pen and paper handy and write! i’d buy a copy!

    Hey Deneen – thoughts after reading your last 2 posts…I’m totally behind you trying your hand at writing – go for it girl! I also wanted to encourage you not to worry so much about connecting what you do to earn a living with the things that you love to do. In other words, your call is not necessarily fulfilled in your occupation…this is a common 21st century American Christian philosophy (and misconception)! Remember, Paul made tents. Peter was a fisherman. Perhaps the early church eventually supported their ministry, but that wasn’t necessarily the goal they had in mind as they stepped out to serve the Lord. We are called to serve the Lord wherever we are, whatever we do. And the Lord provides. But one is not necessarily a precursor to the other.
