Historical event

As many know, I didn’t vote for our new president.  That being said, I appreciate the historicity of Barack Obama’s inauguration today.

It seems unfathomable that less than half a century ago, he wouldn’t have been served at many restaurants; he would’ve had to sit in a special section on the bus; he would’ve had to drink from a separate water fountain.  I think that MLK, Jr would be happy to see how far our country has come.

I want Barack Obama and his administration to be successful.  I pray that, in four years, our country is in a better place financially than it is today.  I pray that we are as safe or safer than we are today.  I pray that our country becomes unified…not as democrats, republicans, African-American, Asian, Caucasian, men, women, but as Americans.  This country has more than it’s share of problems.  However, I love this crazy country.

Though I didn’t vote for President Obama, I vow to pray for him and his administration.  That doesn’t mean that I won’t point out things that I find problematic.  However, I vow to all of you to also point out things that I find excellent in his presidency.

Congratulations, Mr. President.  Today, you’ve made history. God bless America.
